The tree cult and some approaches to the ethnobotany in the Minoan world

By Athenas Cati Malavé | @athenasglauks

Abstract

With the name of Minoan was known a pre-Hellenic civilization that arose, developed and eclipsed in Crete an island located in the waters of the Mediterranean Aegean between 3000 and 1100 B. C. E. Its society was characterized by a naturalistic, peaceful and sensitive spirit, traits that it would reflect in its religion, as well as in all aspects of its life. One of its most relevant religious practices would focus on the cult of the tree, a symbol of fertility. These rituals, which implicitly carried the ideas of life, death, Beyond, and regeneration, were possibly celebrated annually and would be testified by varied iconographic documentation of which the adoration of the tree and certain entheogenic elements (plants that after their ingestion provide a divine experience) have been interpreted, as well as the feminine and masculine divinities that embodied a hierogamy. These would have as center, the renewal of the vital cycle, through the combination of an ecstatic behavior and the execution of sacred dances.

Once the panoramic view had been outlined and following the guidelines of the history of religions, a diachronic and transdisciplinary study of the mythical-symbolic and ethnobotanical aspects observed in the so-called cult of the tree practiced by the Minoans during the Bronze Age was proposed; to analyze the documentation and the academic budgets, a non-religiocentric dating was used through the use of the abbreviation B. C. E. (Before Common Era), as well as the method of iconographic exegesis suggested by E. Panofsky. The results allowed an approximate understanding of the phenomenon of which the importance of the socio-religious use that Minoan culture conferred on certain plants within the ritual environment is valued. In this sense, a rapprochement and understanding of the knowledge, behaviors and religious beliefs of this civilization in Ancient was achieved.

Features you should look for in a crepe maker

As you have seen, there is a wide range of brands in terms of electrical appliances for making pancakes and delicious crepes. So, for you to know which is the best crepe maker you can buy, I recommend that you look at the following list to make your choice easier.

Temperature range

Something you always have to consider when choosing a crepe maker is the temperature range, this will make it easier for you to cook faster or slower and make your crepes more golden or not.

Another advantage of having an appliance with several degrees of heat is that you can experiment with a variety of other recipes.

Construction

The next feature you should check is the construction materials of the crepe maker. The best brands usually use stainless steel, aluminum, Bakelite, heat-resistant plastic for the base area, quality non-stick material, etc.

They should be durable and environmentally responsible. They must also offer storage convenience and ease of use.

Cooking surface

Pan and electric crepe makers are manufactured with different surfaces. Some are made of cast iron which helps to distribute the heat evenly but you must cure them before use.

You will also find the plates covered with non-stick materials that do not require the curing process but read the instructions carefully before using this equipment for the first time, as some require you to preheat them without putting anything on top for 10 minutes.  Strong odors may be released during this first phase, so it is recommended that this be done in a ventilated area. After that, you can use them at your ease.

This type of non-stick pancake is ideal for making thin crepes.

Accessories

Some manufacturers offer some special features such as the inclusion of a spatula and spreader kit to make the mixture homogeneous each time it is poured over the crepe maker. So if you want to have these tools, be sure to check the appliance to see if such accessories come with the purchase of the appliance.

Why should you use a crepe machine?

Here are some reasons why you should use a crepe maker in your home:

  • Crepe makers are easy to use. Most come with user guides and best of all with recipe books that can help you make delicious crepes at home.
  • You can also find inspiration by searching for recipe books on the internet, you will surely be surprised by the varieties of pancakes, crepes and other foods you can create.
  • A crepe maker is versatile; you can use it to prepare other foods for breakfast or snacks.
  • They help make your kitchen chores less difficult, most have indicator lights that show when the plate is hot enough for you to use. Such a feature is really useful for inexperienced cooks.
  • Most crepe makers have heat regulators that allow you to prepare other recipes when you simply change the temperature level.
  • A crepe maker comes with the necessary accessories such as a spatula and a batter spreader, making your cooking experience easier again.
  • They take up little space in the kitchen.
  • They are really fun and useful and allow you to enjoy time and meals with your family.

Types of crepe makers

Here is a brief description of the main types of crepe makers you can find in the kitchen market.

  • Dual crepe griddle: The dual crepe griddle is the one that comes with an additional plate. This allows you to prepare larger quantities of crepes at once, or one large crepe if you use the other griddle. Some models come with a reversible griddle, one side wide and the other with small divisions so that you can pour the mixture onto it. An example of this can be seen in product 4 of our list with the brand Cecotec.
  • Simple crepe makers: This is the most common model you can find concerning crepe makers. As its name suggests, it has room to cook only one unit. It occupies a compact space on the kitchen counter, making it ideal for home use by a family of 2 or small meetings with friends.
  • Commercial crepe makers: Commercial crepe makers have cast iron plates. This material allows for even heat distribution. As their name indicates, they are suitable for commercial use, such as restaurants and hotels, however, you can also find sturdy electric models appropriate for this industry.
  • Stainless steel crepe griddles: This is a crepe pan manufactured in stainless steel, some come with a handle, just like a traditional frying pan. They do not require you to pre-clean them, they are easy to clean and also easy to use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below I detail the main questions that I usually make about crepe makers, but remember that if you have another concern, you can tell me down here and I will be happy to reply.

What do people call a crepe maker?

Crepe machines are usually known as crepe makers or crepe griddles. They are also known as billig, especially in Brittany, or France, where this type of pancake originated. Billig is a mutated form of the Breton word pillig, which means plate or «pancake maker.

Do you need a crepe maker to make crepes?

Crepe makers are relatively flat pans that do not have very steep sides in their structure.

Thankfully, you don’t need a crepe maker to make this dish. Any good pan or flat-bottomed griddle that heats evenly can help you cook a great crepe. In any case, I will keep recommending an electric crepe maker because its practicality will always be a great help at home, especially at breakfast time.

How does a crepe maker work?

Simply plug in the crepe machine to heat it by selecting the temperature level; prepare the mixture and spread a thin layer of the mixture on the griddle and simply watch it cook in seconds.

There are electric griddles and crepe makers with a diameter of 12 inches. They are ideal for traditional French crepes and usually have a non-stick aluminum plate and 5 or more different temperature settings.

When should crepes be turned over?

When bubbles form on the top and no liquid mass is visible, it’s time to turn the crepe over. Later pancakes will usually require less time to cook, so practice carefully, because the more pancakes you have to make, the faster you will have to turn them over, because the pan will get hotter and hotter.

What else can I do with a crepe maker?

A cast-iron crepe maker is extremely versatile; you can also use it to make pancakes, eggs, grilled sandwiches, and other assorted dishes that require a fast heating pan and that need different temperature levels.

As for the electric crepe makers, they are devices designed mainly to make crepes.

Conclusion

After reviewing all the brands shown in this selection, I can tell you that I have loved the model offered by Cecotec (Product 2), not only because it’s quality/price ratio is unbeatable, but also because the crepe maker has a reversible non-stick plate, which has been manufactured in Rockstone. It is 30.5 cm long and you can choose between making large crepes or 4 smaller ones when you turn it over.

Another advantage is that it includes tools to spread the mixture and to make the face of each pancake, besides its temperature system is adjustable. As you can see, it»s the most complete option.

What things should you look for in a dough mixer?

Here are some of the main features I suggest you check out before buying your dough mixer. They can help you to make a more appropriate choice since not everyone is looking for a professional equipment to knead large quantities of ingredients, but a kitchen robot with which you can pamper everyone with cookies and homemade cakes.

Capability

One of the first characteristics you should consider before buying a stand-up mixer is the capacity, as it will give you an approximate idea of how much can be done in a single session.

After all, the main thing is that it adapts to your needs since it’s not the same to prepare cookies for a home-made snack and hobbies, as it is to mix ingredients for the pizza dough in a mini restaurant. In the first case, with a 5-liter bowl, you will have enough capacity to pamper everyone at home, but if it is a business with commercial purposes, I suggest you opt for mixers that offer 8 or 10-liter bowls.

Motor

The second factor you should take into account is whether the motor of the electric mixer will resist the uses you will make of it. It is therefore important that you check the power of it, which you will see indicated in watts. This measure can give you a previous clue, about if your machine will resist through time, and its motor will not burn out.

Therefore, the higher this value is, the stronger your food processor will be, which will lead you to acquire a machine designed for large quantities with a 450-watt motor, or better yet, the blenders that have a power of 1000W or more, which would be indicated for semi-professional use.

Overall size

If you have a small kitchen worktop, it is best to choose a kitchen machine that is smaller in size or compact enough to be stored in a cupboard until you need it again.

Design & convenience

These characteristics tend to go hand in hand since the aesthetic line of any technology inevitably leads to greater comfort.

An example of this can be seen with the controls of a well-designed kneader. It will have clear and simple knobs that will allow you as a user to obtain the desired results easily: a simple turn of the speed wheel, or the pressing of a specific button such as the «turbo», should make it easier for you to obtain a certain type of speed, kneading or mixing.

In addition to this, these features also cover other aspects, such as the fact that the kneading mixer is manufactured with the best materials. It should also ensure that it is easy to maintain and clean (dishwasher safe).

Efficiency

This feature not only refers to the electricity consumption of your new stand mixer but also to how well the ingredients are mixed.

The first example of this would be to look at the length of the mixing sticks and hooks, as some are too short and do not reach to mix all the ingredients to avoid leaving marks on the bottom of the bowl.

The length of these sticks should also not be too long so that you can add ingredients without complications.

The efficiency of the machine can also be seen in a bowl with adequate space between the edges of the stand mixer. Models that include acrylic lids to prevent splashing are another good alternative.

Quality and Customer Service

Reviews like this one, as well as the comments you usually find in online sales portals, are excellent references to verify the quality of a product since multiple users have tested many brands. They can also warn you of any flaws or, on the contrary, inform you of an unknown but favorable brand.

When you have problems with a device, look for answers from the vendors and manufacturers. They can support you in finding a solution to your problem.

Finally, it is also important that you check whether your chosen stand mixer has a guarantee. The best ones will offer you 2 to more years with a purchase certification.

Benefits of having a stand mixer at home

Here are some advantages of why you may find it convenient to have a dough mixer at home or in your bakery, pastry shop or similar business.

Zero effort

As much as you love to cook, we also know that aching arms and feet from daily cooking tasks can be overwhelming. For that reason, having a kitchen mixer will allow you to perform multiple tasks without any extra effort on your part.

Simply follow your recipe and allow your machine to mix, shake, whip and knead the ingredients at the speed that gives the food you want the best consistency.

Less clutter

While you’ll have to clean the mixing bowl, you’ll have less mess in the kitchen and less flour scattered on the counter, the best mixers come with spill-proof lids with holes for pouring ingredients. Many models also offer a light start with smooth speeds, which means less splashing.

Greater control

Paddle mixers often come with multiple options for mixing, from the use of varied accessories and different speeds.

The first quality is excellent for those who like to use their food processor for more than just kneading, as their wire rods allow you to mix different ingredients and obtain different levels of liquidity and density.

On the other hand, the hooks are for harder mixtures and to reach the right consistency to make the base of pizzas or rolls.

They also allow you to have a better uniformity and distribution of ingredients and flavors.

Tilt head vs bowl lift stand mixer

Now, I will point out the main differences between the mixers with tilting heads and the bowl mixers. These kinds of qualities can also help you to profile your choice and make a more satisfactory investment.

Tilt head stand mixer v

These kitchen robots are designed to be raised at a 90° angle on the neck side of the appliance. These mixers are ideal for handling a multitude of family cooking tasks, and are available in an affordable price range, with decent brands starting at 90 euros.

Generally speaking, the downside may be that the power output is lower; but, they are suitable for hobbies in the kitchen and for those who require occasional use of the piece. Another good feature is that they are easy to store as they take up less shelf space, and while you may be sacrificing performance as greater control over the mixes required in semi-professional businesses, they will always make your life easier and more fun at home.

Bowl lift stand mixer

This type of stand mixer is usually larger and generally more durable than the tilting head versions. They have a larger motor and a larger capacity of liters in their bowls.

This model is preferred by professional kitchens such as bakers and professional confectioners because the space created under the bowl allows the mixed dough to be tempered.

They are more voluminous machines but lately, hundreds of models have been designed to fit the worktops of homes more easily.

Below I detail some of the most frequent doubts that people usually have regarding the use of kneading machines, however, remember, that if you have another question, you can comment and I will gladly respond.

🍰 Is a stand mixer worth it?

Standing mixers are excellent kitchen helpers and can be found for between 35 and 550 euros or more. So, if you like bread and you plan to use your mixer to make it, don’t choose the cheapest model or the one with less power. It is worth buying the most powerful model that your pocket can afford.

🍰 What is a stand mixer good for?

Essentially these appliances are like having an extra-large, sturdy pair of arms in your kitchen. You can use them in your mixing and kneading tasks of the most varied recipes, resulting in obtaining desserts, rolls, and other foods quickly, efficiently and without exhausting yourself, if you compare it to manual processes.

🍰 Do I need a hand mixer and a stand mixer?

A hand mixer and a stand mixer can whip cream or butter, but they are not interchangeable devices. But you should know that it’s all a matter of taste: Some excellent home bakers would never invest in a stand mixer, while others would never use a hand mixer. Most often, most people buy a hand blender first, and then when their experience increases and they have saved a little more, they can afford to invest in a stand mixer.

🍰 How many watts should a stand mixer have?

Don’t settle for a mixer with less than 250W of power. Any device that offers you less than that will only allow you to mix pancake ingredients.

Although kneading by hand can be a rewarding process, of course, you can make most types of dough for pizzas and bread using a stand mixer. I recommend that you use the right hook for this task.

🍰 Can I knead the dough with a hand mixer?

Although kneading by hand can be a rewarding process, of course, you can make most types of dough for pizzas and bread using a stand mixer. I recommend that you use the right hook for this task.

Conclusion

After having reviewed the list of mixers that we have prepared in this selection with the intention that you learn new cooking skills during this quarantine, I am inclined to recommend the Cookmii label (product 4) as they have taken great care to design a kitchen robot with 1800W of power, 6 speeds and three different hooks that allow you to diversify the types of mixes.

At the same time, it comes with 1 stainless steel bowl of 6.5 liters, wide enough for you to mix different ingredients and pampering everyone with exquisite recipes. It is ideal for family use, offers excellent value for money, and has a good guarantee.

The 15 Best Cities For Digital Nomads To Enjoy New Cultures While Working

By Athenas Cati Malavé | @athenasglauks

If you are passionate about travel and have the veins of an entrepreneur, you have surely thought of taking your laptop and all your work to a wonderful destination. Therefore, whether you’re an expert or just exploring what it’s like to work as a freelancer, I’ve selected a list of the best cities for digital nomads. These places will not only allow you to do your job, but they are incredible for enjoying new cultures.

What is a digital nomad?

When you hear about digital nomads, you should know that it is the term that has been used lately to refer to people who work independently of the geographical location where we are, using the technology of the cities to fulfill our tasks.

While it is true that graphic designers and writers use the appellation of freelancers, in the world of the Internet, recent trends have opted for the name of digital nomad, which although it may sound abstract, current researchers in the area of Human Resources, have estimated that in 2035, one billion people on the planet, will work in different cities under this mode, having the advantage of visiting different cities while developing a project.

This is partly because more and more people are unhappy with the standard model where they spend 8 or 9 hours working in cramped workspaces for 5 days a week, and that’s not counting overtime and setbacks that many have to deal with in an average office or city.

Thanks to the development of the modern digital age and remote communications, old working rules and structures are disappearing, and new opportunities to work remotely in other cities are increasing.

However, while your friends may be jealous when they see your latest digital photos of you with your laptop on the beach, it is also important for you to know that deep down it is not all glamorous because they do not know the other side of the coin, where certain practical and technological aspects could be difficult to cope in the life of a digital nomad, regardless of the cities you might visit.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it?  Many think they can arrive in these cities and instantly connect their devices. Well, let me tell you that on more than one occasion I had headaches even at airports, where connectivity is not always so easy to get.

Anyway, this expertise will be perfected and expanded, and possibly in less than you think you will be getting your travel backpack ready to visit some cities and take that big jump.

What makes a great location for digital nomads?

There is no single answer to this because digital nomads (YouTubers, Instagrammers, Bloggers, writers of different categories and graphic designers) can occupy 1 million jobs in different cities. However, you can also find diverse writers, online teachers, virtual assistants, voice instructors, translators, artists, etc.

Whatever your profession, choosing a location is very important. Adventurous YouTubers in grey and monotonous cities would struggle to obtain material, and an online class broadcast by a teacher from that cocktail bar on an exotic beach would be considered unprofessional.

So here are 3 essential features for a city to be considered excellent for a digital nomad.

Internet

Without access to the network, it’s like you’re a horseless rider. Not only must you have WIFI service with which you can share the requested material with the world and your Clients, but the connection of these cities must be good and stable. So if you are digital nomads living in Venezuela, it is better to pack your bags for your next destination.

Profitable

This is not very important if you are making a lot of money, but most digital nomads have fluctuating incomes. It is thus important that you research the cost of living in the cities you like by destination.

You should also know that technology in digital environments moves so fast, algorithms change and can cripple any online business overnight. Nothing is safe, so you will always want to keep an eye on your spending and think that when you visit other cities it is better to rent seasonally, not for a whole year.

Inspiring

This type of digital work tends to be quite solitary, so while it is true that you will spend much of your time by the side of your laptop, in your free moments you should take advantage and look for inspiration in such cities.
That’s why when you select digital nomadic cities, it should be an extra task for you to do it thinking about vibrant cultures, creativity, beautiful natural landscapes and of course some tranquility at the time of the siesta.

Inspiring destinations

Now it’s time to meet some inspiring destinations. In these places, you will enjoy the benefits of being a digital nomad.

Canggu, Bali

Canggu. Bali, Indonesia

For the nomads who love Asian destinations and those gastronomic-cultural environments surrounded by beaches, you will surely love island cities such as Canggu, a small coastal town of 10 km, located on the southern coast of Bali, Indonesia.

This is one of the places that for a long time was the favorite destination of hippies, hipsters, and bohemians, but after the boom that the digital nomads have been having in different cities of the world, since 2012, it was transformed into a place indicated for travelers interested in business, offering coworking spaces specialized in corporate and independent, only that some places are noisy and concurred, although always you will find others calmer.

If you are not very demanding, you will perceive that most of these environments and cybercafes have decent internet, food points, and a low cost in terms of accommodation and food; however if your lifestyle includes beach parties and cocktails, you will spend your digital savings quickly.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Puerto Madero. Buenos Aires. Argentina

Changing completely from the scenario of Asian cities, one of my favorite destinations in Argentina is Buenos Aires. The city offers exceptional architecture and pleasant hospitality by its people, which is capable of seducing curious souls.

Although it is not one of the cheapest cities for those of us who are digital nomads, if you stick to the budget, and rent 1 single room within walking distance of the center, and even outside the central area, you could have a good time.

There you can refresh your ideas in bohemian and multicultural environments, full of parks, a beautiful Japanese Garden (which I always visit), good live music, tango, street art, protests, etc. Besides, you don’t have to worry about renting a car since public transportation is affordable and reliable. And as for your work, don’t worry, as Buenos Aires not only has hundreds of areas for digital nomads doing corporate work but also hosts thousands of Starbucks and other incredible cafes, which provide excellent free WIFI.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai. Thailand

Again Asia calls me, but this time to go to the north of Thailand to one of the most relevant cities of the country, and with a lot of diversity for digital nomads.
This is Chiang Mai, located 700 km from the capital Bangkok, which offers a mixture of hundreds of Buddhist temples, beautiful natural landscapes, and a combination of the bustle of the city, creative digital games and free yoga sessions scattered around the city, along with important spiritual retreats for you to meditate.

Although it cannot be considered the most beautiful city in Thailand, the cost of living is difficult to overcome for digital nomads.

Thus you will find in Chiang Mai, one of the cheapest cities in the Asian continent, from accommodation to street food, cafes, bike rental. You will also have shared and designed workspaces with different sizes and many services, which are usually open 24 hours a day.

Mexico, City

Palacio de Bellas Artes. Mexico City. Mexico

Even though we know that it is not one of the cities that offer the best security and that the cost of rentals is of average level, the Mexican capital is offering many innovations in terms of technology and intelligent digital spaces where any research and business team can fit together getting everything in one place.

Consequently, in the capital you will find an excellent area with nomadic workers, cyber cafes, delicious traditional food, museums of historical relevance, colonial buildings, a lively nightlife illuminated by digital lights, as well as a host of qualities that will invite you in the day to day to explore, work, close business as nomads of this last generation.

Medellin, Colombia

Botero Sculpture. Medellín, Colombia

For those who are digital nomads from the north of the American continent, can take 1 flight and go further south, so they will know another of the emerging cities with great potential in this world.

I am referring to Medellín, which although it still has a reputation for being full of rampant and dangerous violence, with crimes everywhere in terms of wallet theft and drug trafficking, is just that, the bad reputation of the past. The panorama it offers us today is completely prosperous, technological and vindicated, suitable for digital nomads.

Recent investments in infrastructure, commerce, finance, and networking have attracted passive income earners, as well as graphic designers and digital writers. The place is friendly, profitable and offers good fun for those who love dancing, and those who appreciate hiking while providing workspaces in keeping with the relentless pace of the nomads and the last-minute clientele, as well as cozy cafes with greater privacy and excellent WIFI.

Budapest, Hungary

Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Budapest, Hungary

Budapest marks our first European entrance for digital nomads, and it comes to give us a completely different feeling to the exotic beach, but it is excellent for historians, researchers, writers, artists and passionate about culture, history, and museums, giving us the contrasts that the river Danube has marked with time: the old and the most contemporary.

Besides being the capital and offering a quite cheap cost of living in comparison with other places in Western Europe, Budapest has beautifully lit buildings that will leave you breathless especially if you like to walk at night; the efficient transport service and hundreds of cafes and spaces perfectly equipped with the latest technology, so all the digital nomads, will get in this corner of the world, one of the most affordable cities to work.

Krakow, Poland

Polonia Street. Krakow, Poland

I’ve always thought that everyone should spend some time in this city of medieval origin. In spite of having the harsh winter, in other seasons its temperature is delicious, besides Krakow is one of the cheapest places in Europe, suitable for digital nomads, with fast internet, an incredible culture, history, and night activities; but, if you want to explore more, you could plan visits to archaeological vestiges that date from the Stone Age near Wawel.

Now for the features you are looking for among the cities for digital nomads, you can count on incredible offers of accommodation, and abundant and inexpensive spaces for teamwork, which will allow you, once you finish your work, to spend time visiting other sectors of the Lesser Poland voivodship.

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon Trams. Portugal

If the cold weather is not for you and you are looking for other cities with better characteristics for digital nomads, I will recommend you a visit to Lisbon, which in addition to an excellent climate, can offer you open and closed office spaces that range from the most luxurious to other contractually bohemian, inviting us to work as a team or alone.

Besides, it has given way to the creation of important creative artistic centers, whose function is to extend your creativity to the limit. These centers are located in art galleries, museums, and pubs, so you will find inspiration in Lisbon. The cost of living is more expensive than Asian cities, but the amount of fun you can have here is worth every euro. From the digital creative spaces, I mention to the night activities, beaches, surfing, wine, fish, beer, history, culture and architectural heritage, which make this geographical destination a paradise for digital nomads.

Tbilisi, Georgia

Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi. Georgia

Although Georgia is a world away from the typical choices that nomadic freelancers crave, it is worthy of being next to the list of the best cities, as its strategic geographical location between Asia and Europe has given it a historical diversity between the modern, the medieval and the ancient, when it was part of the Silk Road.

Nowadays I can tell you that the budget to live there is competitive, but you can save something if you stay outside the city, and as the public transport is super cheap, you will not have any problem to get quickly to the center, also if you are nature lovers, you can take advantage and enjoy the range of mountains that surrounds the region.

As far as working spaces are concerned, they are slowly starting to emerge, but the tendency is to standardize this type of business; but don’t worry as you can always find a coffee shop and an excellent free WIFI connection, which will facilitate any of your investigations and submissions.

Prague, Czech Republic

Old Town. Prague. Czech Republic

If you want to find one of the cities that are part of the European charm, Prague is one of those real jewels. It’s beautiful, ancient, romantic, and mysterious. It seems that there are always new avenues, little corners, beer gardens, cafes, and magic gardens.

It is a joy to walk through the cobbled streets and listen to people from all over the world passing by, surrounded by every language and every accent.

Although accommodation is not the cheapest thing in the world, you can find good deals through Airbnb or rent privately, and if you can avoid the temptation of eating out in one of the millions of delicious restaurants, you can easily control your expenses.

As for the list of digital nomad cities, I offer you, I can tell you that the community for these shared offices is small, but there are many cybercafes designed even by nomads. What I must warn you is that during the summer the places fill up quickly and you will hardly find quiet places when you need to concentrate on your work.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Again in Asia, it is essential to recommend Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Its facilities are low cost but exotic enough for nomads, reminding you that you are immersed in another culture, so maybe it is not the right place for the more experienced but for beginners you will find it great.

Its offices and work areas are abundant and economical, also have meeting rooms and social events where you can intertwine friendships and new contacts with other digital nomadic colleagues, in charge of Social Networks. Without a doubt, it is among the cities you should go at least once, so have your documentation ready in your passport holder.

Tenerife, Spain

Dolphins in Loro Parque. Tenerife, Spain

When you think of Tenerife, you probably associate it with a party town or family vacation. While the beach atmosphere is impressive, along with the natural landscape, outdoor activities, and nightclubs, you can find more to the north, nomadic areas of personal and shared work with good free connectivity of which I suggest you use a VPN.

Accommodation ranges can be luxurious, but you will also find cozy apartments with a view to the Atlantic, quite affordable and you can rent them when you need to breathe some fresh air.

Sofia, Bulgaria

St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Sofia, Bulgaria

Another city of digital nomads that has increased its development is located in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria as the workplaces are perfectly equipped with the best technology, which includes from an excellent connection, desks, printers, burners, centers to install your portable battery charger, etc. They even have specialized personnel that will assist you in the creation of networks if required.

The accommodation is very affordable, and the budget to invest is as a dream compared to other European destinations. The city is also beautiful, offering mountain and sea views, and with low-cost airfares, you can easily explore Romania, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, and Macedonia.

Barcelona, Spain

Sagrada Familia. Barcelona, Spain

Another of the digital nomadic cities famous all over the world for the beauty of its Gaudi buildings, its history, gastronomic multiculturalism, beaches, and nightlife activities, is Barcelona, so you should be encouraged to experience it at least once in your life.

The city offers a lot of inspiration in these workstations. They have designs that invite you to increase your creativity. They also have a Silicon Valley and beautiful coffee shops where you can watch the world go by while working with excellent Wi-Fi. The only problem is that the boom and reliability have increased the cost of living as they have become one of the most popular destinations for successful freelancers.

Estonia

Tallinn Old Town. Estonia

If you’re ready for me to cheer you on and say: «The world is waiting for you, work where you’ve always wished», pay attention to this last location of digital nomads. I know, Estonia is a country and not a city, but in its entirety offers great advantages in the world of technology as it was the birthplace of Skype and Transferwise, also has developed the first Digital Nomad Visa in the world, offering from the best connectivity when working with social networks, to workspaces in environments surrounded by forests, beaches, and urbanism.
